but the local diff guy told me that rubber mounts are usually used in road-coarse/autox cars not drag cars. the rubber cause the diff to get shooken up causeing the internals to loosen and brake. im not an expert, i am just stating what i have been told from experts.
I don't think that is very correct for the honda. If there are that much backlash for the gears to jump around then the diff is faulty.
The softer bushes allows movement of the rear diff and CV. For drag racing the sudden load on take off will result in tremendous amount of movement if the bushes are soft. This may causes axle tramp. This random movement will exert unpredictable torsion on the diff housing and MAY cause the housing to crack.

Too much torque will move the diff caps and will cracks the diff housing too. You can order stronger diff mounting bushes from Mugen or J-racing but I don't think it will help our diff with very hard launch as the cap are weak also.

hmm any more ideas on how to make the diff stronger?
Relatively speaking, you can make the diff stronger by using soft clutch or non sticky tyres and learn how to slip the clutch.

those polyurethane bushes are once off production.
it required a lot of work and will cost a lot to order from K&A (that is if you can)

You are better off buy them from mugen. It might not be as hard but will be a lot cheaper and quicker.

How fast are you at the 1/4 mile now blue?

How about cyrogenic hardening either the whole thing or just the case?
I know where mine broke a comptech piece wouldn't have helped.

This time I'm using an 05 housing and propshaft. I'm considering having Jcarlton do some cyro work on it

Any opinions?

well its cold up here and the track is closed, we are in the 11s though with a 1.7X 60ft during previous runs. It was on 245 Nitto tires and a lower boost setting to test.

I will be back on the dyno tomorrow to check a new throttle body. Thank you for the info I'll call K&A and Mugen.

I like that idea. In fact, I was considering it for mine as well. Keep us posted.

If that doesn't work, then it's DiffTechnics time...
