Default Debating turbo/supercharger

ok. im sure that this has been answered many times but i cannot find it.

Im debating on the Greddy Kit (smog legal) or planning to get a supercharger too.
I know the supercharger is better of the line, and turbo is better on the highway but if you had to choose what would you get?

-Whats a good reliable supercharger for around 5k?
-I know i can easily tune the greddy kit to aout 320whp but can i get more out of supercharge?

Im new to the FI scene so i need serious help. Thanks guys

Who told you that? Not an accurate statement at all.

How good of a mechanic are you? If you're not much for tinkering under the hood I'd say go with a SC. If you can turn a wrench and can afford for things to break, go with a turbo.

For everything else, there's nitrous.

got that statement from a post on this site.

About things breaking, i got pretty good mechanic skills plus my buddies own a great shop and they are the ones doing the install and helping me with anything that needs to be worked on along the way.

-Nitrous= I've been thinking about it but i want the BOV sound. haha

for sound... nothing beats nitrous purge. to be able to push a button and get a loud psshhh! is very entertaining. I used to do it right before I pull up at the quarter mile strip and ppl watching would get there jollies off. haha. But i dont think i would go nitrous on the s2k.

Supercharger <400 whp
Turbo > 400whp

I went with supercharger b/c it is much more functional for road course racing. Superchargers out there deliver very linear power, less prone to overheat, less mechanical issues and i cant imagine needing any more then 400whp on a road course. I would imagine that anything over 400whp would be a straight line monster. At that point there are much more function mods you could do to improve lap times.

Btw, you can easily tune a kraftwerks, sos, or vortech supercharger to put down way more then greddy and they are very reliable kits.

so reliability speaking, if all i wanted was about 350-400whp at most i might as well go with a S/C?

Only upside i see about the Turbo is that the one i want is carb legal

Agreed... Also all the 06+ s/c kits will accomplish this.

You also have the added benefit of 06+ so you can reflash your ecu. SOS, vortech and kraftwerks kits run between $5-6k with reflash included or go with a "you tune" kit and buy hondata flashpro ($695) so you can reflash, datalog, and store tunes yourself.

Also there are so many used kits out on the market right now. I picked one up second hand and saved $2k.

From what i gathered... A turbo'd s2k will run into some sort of issue a least every 3-4 months. Whereas, these superchargers are near bullet proof and you can run 3-5 years with little or no issues.

If you want carb then greddy, vortech and comptech are your only choices
