Default Cylinder head

Hi all,

I'm going to build my head, so therefore I took the head off today. I did about 100km boosted with this engine. Sparkplugs were just as new... and this is what they look like now.

To me the sparkplugs and valves look really white. I remember from the two stroke era, that would mean the engine runs very lean. But my A/F while cruising is 14.7 and under WOT about 12.

I just wanted to know what you guys think

I run the bkr8eix by the way.

Thanks!
Jasper

Oh and just for fun... here is another reminder not to buy chinese parts
I thought I'd give this ebay turbo blanket a try.... but didn't last long. About 100km.

If your wondering about running lean, I would inspect the pistons and cylinder bores, take a look at the plug porcelain. If it was still running strong when u tore apart I wouldn't get to caught up on the deposits on the valves.

Pistons and cylinders look great.
The engine was running good.

So I was wondering if someone had an idea on these white sparkplugs. Doesn't look very good right?

14.7 while cruising is lean. Personally, i would go no leaner than mid 13s..your plugs are super white.

With gas, 14.7 while cruising is ideal in closed loop. Mid/ low 13's is what some may see at WOT on a NA engine, for boost it ranges from 11.6-12.2 pending application. It is very difficult to rely on spark plugs to tell exactly if the engine is lean or rich because if it is in closed loop for sometime, the rich or lean "condition is compensated for... best/simplest way to know is an appropriately installed wideband

Just FYI hope your not street tuning it with the stock "wideband" it's only accurate for NA tuning, anything richer then 12 or so it goes straight to 10.

Don't trust it, don't trust it, don't trust it.

Get it dyno'd then u will be able to compare with tuners wideband.
don't use the stock wideband for FI tuning lol can't say it enough.
Should of asked from the start what ur using. But it's torn apart so should be good.

Not all true, my wideband set-up is reliable as the afr I was seeing on the dyno was within .3 of what my tuner was seeing from his sniffer. Key is having it properly calibrated and accurate.

Good @jaspah
And I understand @coastie
But deffly compare with sniffer. They must be hit or miss. I wouldn't bet on it tho.
