Default Connection Missing with KraftWerks Supercharger Intake?

I run a 2004 S2K with a KraftWerks supercharger kit. I bought the car with the kit intstalled so I don’t know a whole lot about it other than a what I researched on their website. My engine is running slightly hot. I vented the hood and also installed a heat shield on the air intake as you can see below. However, when installing the heat shield, I noticed what I have circled in the pics below. Looks like a host clamp with a missing hose connection coming out of the bottom of the air intake hose. Anyone know what is supposed to be connected there? That’s an open hole that I assume is just sucking in unfiltered hot air from the engine and probably the cause of my heating issue. Recommendations? Am I missing an important connection? Should I cap it off? I’m a weekend warrior mechanic so can do quite a bit with YouTube videos but don’t know enough to really investigate. Appreciate any help.

What cam cover breather have you ? catch can ?
That should not be open & yes cap it <you sure it has not got a cap inside already>? engine will run very weak and may/will damage it...

Not sure. Sorry, weekend warrior here. Haha

It is definitely not capped. I can stick a pencil up it and into the intake pipe. Engine is definitely not running weak. I’ve run two autocross events with it like this. Just running hot. I flushed the radiator with OEM fluids as well. Here’s another pic if it helps. There’s another hose going down from it - not sure where it connects. Intercooler?

So I’m not going to hurt the engine if I cap this? Would love to know what it was connected to.

Not a great pic but you can see all the way up into the intake pipe.

Other side with another hose going down. Didn’t follow it to see what it connects to.

A weak mixture will run the engine hot,it will melt a piston or valve seat.
Your choice.6k for another engine

That’s the whole point of me posting here and trying to figure out what to do. What do you mean my choice? I’m not doing this on purpose. Haha. I’m trying to figure out if I should connect it to something or cap it off.

Ok, cool. Finally just found a video that helped as well. Looks like this install video shows a hose connecting it to the breather on the engine cover. However, my car has a mini air filter there. One more question. Sorry, I know noobs can be aggravating. Would you recommend putting a hose back in place there or capping it and leaving the mini air filter? Pros / cons? Thank you very much. I think this solves my issue. It’s not overheated but was definitely running hot an annoying me that I couldn’t solve it. Think this will get it now. Thanks again.

Video I found of it being connected to breather with hose.

What my engine currently looks like with mini air filter there.

Yes remove that mini filter and connect a hose there instead, it will help relieve the crank case pressure some.
Might want to check your blow off valve as well, is it venting to atmosphere? it could have been connected to that open intake hole for recirculation.

That intake filter placement is really bad and is going to suck hot air with or without that heat shield.
Lots of people have oriented it the other way and boxed it off, a good idea for future mod.

Also noodle should calm down
It's not sucking unmetered air since it is just MAP based system, it will just suck in unfiltered dirt.

Incredibly helpful @flanders . Thank you! I wondered about the intake positioning as I’ve seen people turn it both ways for install. I may look at flipping mine around. First step is to get that hose in place though. Thanks again.
