Default comptech supercharger vs ultimate racing turbo

need some advice people im looking to add more power into my 01 s2k. right now im looking either the comptech supercharger or the ultimate racing turbo kit. the price is more or less about the same and i know the difference from a supercharger from a turbo kit. i want to know what would you prefer and why. right now im leaning more towards the turbo kit because of the overall better performance and less stress on the engine but the supercharger is also appealing because it doesnt have the lag like a turbo does. what do you guys think?

less stress on the engine from the turbo? please explain.

The supercharger is definitely the more reliable option.

a supercharger runs off the belt doesnt it and turbo jus runs off the exhaust making use of what is wasted while a supercharger needs to use some of the power to power the supercharger itself.

Wit a SC,you're only on boost(+/-1 psi.@ 4000)above 4000.rpm.=less stress on the engine for daily driving.

Isn't a supercharger easier to install and it's not as hard/time consuming/expensive to "tune"? Can anyone answer?

You should probably post this in the Forced Induction forum.

As far as the install goes, they are both pretty involved, but the supercharger kits that are available (vortech/comptech) are truly bolt on. There is no fabrication needed to install them, while no matter how bolt on a turbo kit is suppose to be you still need to be somewhat mechanically inclined to install it. I'm not saying that a SC install is total cake, but it is not quite as involved as a turbo install IMO. As far as tuning goes, if you go with stock boost on a comptech or vortech kit you will not really need to get it tuned, simply wire in the ESM or black box and it will take care of it, but I would still suggest that you take it to the dyno or at least install a wideband to make sure that your A/F ratio is where it should be. With a turbo car you will absolutely need to get the car tuned and depending upon which management you choose to go with it can get somewhat involved and you will need a good tuner to get your car done. With all of this being said, turbos will always have more potential then a SC'd application, but it really comes down to what goals you have to determine what you need.
