Comptech supercharger blower failing? Cause engine failure?
I have an older Novi 1000 Comptech supercharger with the aftercooler, I brought in my car for repair because I was originally showing low compression and a bent/burnt valve. Upon further inspection the mechanic believed the bearings went bad in the blower itself and subsequently bearings got into the engine and all the way down to the block. The blower itself did have a tiny collection of oil in front of the impeller which may have indicated the seals going bad, but would it have been possible for bearings to get loose and shoot out like that?
In any case, I'm rebuilding the entire engine now and figure this would be the time to upgrade to the novi 1200/1220. Should there be any concern with the aftercooler? The car has never been low on coolant or any heat issues. I never had to manually put coolant into the aftercooler itself and I don't think we have to since it's a closed system correct? If anything I'd flush the aftercooler to make sure after getting a newer novi 1200/1220
