Cold Air Intake for SOS kit
#73
I have almost finished my intake tract for a Comptech supercharger system, its similar to a snorkle but bring air in from the front to the front of the filter.
I have made and designed it myself, if anyone is interested?

Just a thought, if your modding your car to this level, wisely it wouldn't be your only vehicle, therefore if its raining you have nothing to worry about with hydro lock, becuase your not driving the S

This is the only car I've owned for 8 years now. It's my muse, and I torture it regularly with new mods.
I've never driven through water deeper than a few inches in my entire life and can't imagine why on earth I would suddenly choose to do so. I'm pretty careful about avoiding standing water because I have a serious aversion to hydroplaning. The bottom of the filter is 11" off the ground... If I hit a foot-deep puddle, hopefully I'll have the good sense to cut the engine off.
I have thought of getting one of those hydro sock things. Not to prevent hydro lock, but to limit the wetness from splashing. The directional vent idea is interesting too.
Regarding the dyno history, I dyno'd the car with the filter in the normal SOS location, with the box around it (377whp). I don't have a dyno without the box around the filter. Then I dyno'd it with the CAI installed but sticking up out of the engine bay (421whp). I don't yet have a dyno with the CAI in its permanent location, but I'll do that in the next couple of months. I'm taking some time to decide whether to go to a 3.0" pulley before my next tune.

Side note, as someone who is considering upgrading to the 1200. In order to maximize the boost potential of this blower ie: 20+ psi, a smaller crank pulley would be needed becuase a 3" blower pulley wont get you there?

I agree with this. I daily drove my S2000 for the first 8 months, but by winter time I had a 97 Civic EX to cart me around. Gas sipper, and the gas guzzler...without the tax!

I suspect this is correct. Based on what I've seen so far with my AP1, my guess is that a 3" blower pulley might max out at 16.5psi or so. So you'd need to swap crank pulleys to get there. (Though I think you'd need a larger crank pulley, not smaller...?) I haven't done the math yet, so I don't know how close this would get to the max rpm of the blower.
