Default Carey Bales Turns Heads at NHRA. Personal Best 8.13 ET and Prestigious Award.

This past weekend, Carey Bales shocked the crowd and other racers at the NHRA Lucas Oil event at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet Illinois. Carey entered his 4 cylinder Honda S2000 in the Super Stock class among a sea of V8 powered domestic race cars. He wowed spectators during qualifying with a huge wheel stand but no one could have predicted what was in store later.

Mike Roth recommended some damping adjustments for the Santhuff Suspension to reduce chances of another wheelie and Carey made his way to the starting line for first round of eliminations. “As soon as it launched I knew it was on a pass,” said Bales. He sped past his competitor with ease but the car started to slow down long before the finish line as something in the clutch broke while in 5th gear. 8.13 appeared on the finish line boards.

Bales' S2000 was also given the very prestigious "Best Engineered" award for the event. This award is a true testament to the craftsmanship and detail that has gone into building this car. Only one car is chosen to receive this award per event and considering the hundreds of cars that attended, this was an unbelievable honor.

The 8.13 elapsed time was the quickest pass out of 54 competitors in the Super Stock class at Route 66 Raceway this weekend and the nearly 170 MPH was within 2 MPH of the Super Stock world record. “I can’t say enough about the people and companies that have helped make this car what it is. The MR2Performance chassis work with Santhuff’s Suspension is amazing, Jeremey Allen and InlinePRO have put together an incredible engine package, and AEM Electronics with their Series 2 EMS, 4 channel wideband, coils, and sensors have been working flawlessly,” commented Carey.

Carey would like to thank the following:

Devin Pearce - AEM Electronics
Real Street Performance
Mike at MR2Performance
Full-Race
InlinePRO/Allenbuilt
Ron at Santhuff’s Suspension
