Default Car won't start - a bit worried

Since the weather has been getting cold, my car has been having tough times starting. The OEM ECU always did this too, when it was cold I'd turn on the car, it'd shut off after 2-3 seconds, and I'd start it up again and it'd be fine.

My EMS does the same, it'll crank a few times, fire up, and then shut down. The 2nd time it'll crank a few times, start up, and be fine. I do notice a huge cloud of smoke that'll come out of the exhaust every time I start it now since it got cold. I figure it's all the fuel burning since it's taking awhile to crank.

Tonight I tried to start my car and it wouldn't fire up. It just cranked a few times, and then the cranking slowed down so I stopped, let the Walbro prime again, and tried once more. The cranking was even slower. A third time the cranking stopped, and it just makes ticking noises.

I did detail my car earlier today and had the stereo playing for maybe 2-3 hours. I do have a cheapo Walmart battery too. Does this sound like a dead battery issue (accessories/lights/stereo still worked) or something worse? I know that I need to get a quickie startup tune soon.

Yeah sounds like your battery is just low. I bet it would crank right up if you jumped it.

that is a battery problem, walmart (you get what ya pay for), if your battery is old replace it. or jump it, and drive for a while to recharge it

battery for sure, had the same problem after i came back from a week vacation and my bro left my dome light till it drained the battery. your battery should be fine, just jump it and run it a little while. If not just buy a new one.

sounds like a battery issue, with a possible cold start (lower temp) issue with your EMS tune

I had a similar problem. It was the battery.
