pull the pan, pull the valve cover, pull the engine, drop the tranny, sell the car.
Have you checked the oil? and now that it cranks but won't start, do you hear the fuel pump prime?

I perdict: Chain Tensioner.
Leading to: Chain slapping valve cover, jumped timing, now wont start. I say pull the valve cover, turn the motor (via breaker bar to the crank pulley) to TDC and check your cam gear positions. If I was a betting man, I would say you will find the cam gears to be a couple of teeth off.

its not the first time i see s2000 with bad chain tensioner. Inline pro has made a better one..

i havent heard of anyone jumping time do to a bad tct .. and that sounds exactly like a spun bearing but it could be in the head just gotta drop that pan or pull the valve cover to find out

Correct me if I'm wrong but the tct going out would cause excessive chain slap,leading to possible chain slip which can throw the timing off.

I agree it sounds like TC slap. But I can’t imagine it would be able to jump any teeth, with enough slop differential between the crank and cam gear it could move the timing wile cranking, preventing it from starting, but unless you break all the teeth off, the chain cant slip. I might actually consider dropping the pan just to make sure you didn’t break any teeth off the cam or crank gears, or TCT parts. Pull the valve cover too and inspect the cam gears and chain tension. The first thing I would do though is check my oil for any unusual discoloration from potential metal shavings and then take the valve cover off to inspect.
