Default Building AP1 block!

Ok guys so im going to build my AP1 but before buying everything I had a couple of questions? First of all what do you guys thing about the Wiseco pistons? I found some that im thinking of purchasing but the compression ratio is going to be 8.5:1 with standard bore. Also, I talked to the guys from RSP who is the guys im purchasing them from and told me I had to run sleeved bores si that true? Do I have to buy some Darton sleeves or can I just run my stock sleeves? Also, im thinking of running Crower rods. What do you guys think about them? I would really appreciate any help and opinions. THANKS!!!

I like the crower rods and have them in my s2k. My block is sleeved by Golden Eagle. I also have CP Pistons.

if you do a little research you will notice that there are a lot of 400+ stock f20/f22's out there, the motor comes with forged internals from the factory. the only weak point is the sleeves. but even stock sleeves with handle 600whp..

so unless you are aiming for 600+ i wouldn't suggest spending the extra money on building the block... spend all your money on the Mase turbo kit!

Well there is a shameless plug if Ive ever read one

A basic rebuild with stock parts wont cost that much, but definitely replace pistons while youre in there.

There are very few pistons that can be run with the stock sleeves. The sleeves require a very hyper eutectic piston and almost all aftermarket pistons are not compatible with the factory cylinder walls.

Go slow, get it correct and don't waste big money.

the stock block has been pushed as far as 772whp (Rob!, and even has over 127k miles on it!!!) AFAIK.... with nothing more than a 3mm HG and AP2 retainers, i would say you will be fine, as long as your tune is spot on, and using quality fuel and turbo parts, the OEM shortblock should be able to take 600-700whp no problem, for a long period of time
