Default Battery relocation cable

Having some slow cranking dead battery problems, I ran 2 car audio 4 gauge wires from a distribution block to my full size 750cca yellow top battery. Battery always seems to be low on charge. I'm not sure if the alternator is weak, battery too big, or the wiring is causing the problem. I have tested battery and alternator they both are passing load test. What kind and size wire are you guys using?

I ran a 2 gauge from the trunk to the fender and had issues like you are. Switched to 0 gauge and haven't had any issues again.

I had this exact same issue for YEARS before I finally got it fixed. The issue is your wiring type. I bet its CCA (copper clad aluminum). You need OFC (oxygen free copper) wiring if you're going to stay 4awg

I will PM you all the details and get you my local POC that will give you a good deal on wiring.

Friend had this issue years ago too. He switched to 0 gauge from 4 and never had a problem since.

I have this kit wire from the front with a kill switch to inside the cabin to my trunk. I do have a full sizes battery. This two gauge has work fine for me. No problem with slow cranking problem.

If you have "dead battery" problems I suspect parasitic electrical draws when parked. Even the radio will suck enough power to make the battery dead if the car is not run in couple of weeks. Aftermarket alarms and radios draw more power all the time.

These cars crank slowly anyway. At least the two in my short experience. But all the battery really needs to do is start the engine, nothing else, and there are some that are just bigger than motorcycle batteries that will do that.

Is your battery somewhere other than under the hood?

Thanks for all the very helpful reply's, the battery is in the trunk no draw problem just the battery is not being charged. I'm going to replace the wire with 0 gauge and recheck everything.

This will work with CCA aluminum and should fix your issue. But, if you want to save some weight and bulk, I would stay 4awg with OFC and you'll be good also.
