I have found out that if you have the AEM EMS the CEL light is constantly on unless you pull the fuse. So my question is this. With the CEL out of commission, how can you tell if something is wrong with your car? Of course someone who knows their engine well does not need to use the CEL but I would think that the CEL is crucial for all the other small issues not immediately noticeable.

Oh Trivium, I really didn't expect you to be posting misinformation. You are pretty hard on others who do it.
With the AEM EMS the CEL is not always on and you don't need to pull a fuse. You can set the CEL to light on certain conditions such as high temps or pressures but as you said, it is really for people that know what they are doing and monitor conditions with gauges rather than the dumbed down idiot lights on modern cars.

this is partially the reason I went with the blue box. If I were to mechanically over-rev I would get a blinking cel and shut her down to try and not cause anymore damage. With the full EMS you are screwed.

And do you really need a blinking CEL to tell you you shifted into the wrong gear and your pistons are flying out through your hood?

Since i didnt have a modifry unit at the time, i used my CEL to tell me when operating temp was
I had it stay on when you started the car, and it would go out when the car reached operating temp

The blue box is also giving me issues with a p1259 because of something so I will be going full EMS when the money is allocated. I don't like only being able to red line in the first 3 gears and then once I hit 6 grand in fourth the MAP sensor is seeing to much boost. Regardless of where I clamp it.

Hang on, you went with the Emanage because you didn't understand the EMS properly, now you're going to the EMS because you haven't got the Emanage set up properly.
With the Emanage properly set to clamp the MAP signal going to the ECU you won't get overboost errors. Not sure what p1259 is but you either have it set up wrong or p1259 is something else.
