Default ap2 boost to 9k

hey all,
so i have a vorteched ap2, i took it to my tuner and he put in a 9lb pully and raised the redline to 9k, i have 55lb injectors, and an aem, my question is is it safe to run the motor boosted to to 9k on an ap2?, i also put in new valve springs and retainers, for the 9k redline. my tuner is autowave in hb, and i have only heard what a great tuner he is and i trust him. what do you guys think??

Are they new OEM ones or aftermarket springs and retainers? With aftermarket(assuming they are stronger than OEM, of course) valve springs and retainers I don't see why not.

they are aftermarket, he uses them in his race engines

Then I would say yes. Autowave is generally a pretty smart shop from what I've heard. Also taking into account that the springs and retainers are what go bad when over-revving happens, as long as you have stronger ones you should be fine.

Now if you were on a stock head with stock valve springs and retainers then I would definitely not recommend reving to 9k. I don't really see the advantage of reving to 9k though if you only have valve springs and retainers. I would guess you are losing power. You should have just purchased a smaller pulley to run more boost to 8k, that way you keep everything safe and make more power on a smaller curve...

he said that i will make 340whp to 8k and 360 whp reving to 9k, he has already tryed it and it made more power to 9k. do you think i have to worry about breaking a rod

So your running a 9lb ap2 pulley revving to 9k rpms? So basically its is no longer a 9lb pulley? What kind of numbers did it do?

He wouldn't be losing power considering it is a centrifugal blower.

not sure, but when i had my car baslined on a mustang dyno at 290, autowave baselined my car 291, so mabey a mustang dyno
