There will come a day when everybody laughs at the guys that won't rev their 2.2 past 8300. Just like in the past you HAD to put a 3mm head gasket for a boosted motors. This community is still young. I'm revving my 2.2 to 10k 
On a stock street motor I would have no problem revving to 9k. It's not a small difference it's big time.
