I run an open filter (KN rf-1023) when I remove the vortech stock airbox for cleaning or for other reasons. I do not notice any gains but in hot weather the throttle seems less responsive.

I've used a KN-1023 and a Vortech 350Z airfilter. Only available from Vortech.

The 1023 with a filtercharger wrap:

I'm running a larger intake elbow and filter on mine. The ID of the stock Vortech elbow is slightly smaller than the ID on the blower inlet fyi.

I have some ducting to feed cold air to the filter area also.

No difference that could be felt. I put the 350Z filter on when I'm cleaning the 1023.
