Has anyone ever had problems with roller rockers/ roller bearing splitting with stiffer springs? Im using the BC dual springs with steel retainers and OEM cams. Twice now I have busted a roller bearing on the rocker arm... cant figure out why the hell that keeps happening, there is no evidence of oil deficiency.

BC specs page says this spring combo is 84 lbs seat and 240lbs open.

I've installed BC springs on 2 cars and had broken rollers on both once. I have not tested them so I dont know the actual spring pressure.

For most cars we use supertech beehive springs, these check out at 85lb. Most other springs have way too much seat pressure. A street car with stock cams does not need over 100lbs of seat pressure. The last set if ferrea beehive springs I checked were 115lb on the seat. The supertech 92lb duals usually check out closer to 105lb. Stock is between 55 and 65.

The oem retainers dont have a "seat" for the smaller spring so you aren't going to find a dual spring that will work. With modern retainers there is no real reason to be afraid of ti. I haven't seen a worn to retainer in at least 10 years.

So you have also noticed busted rockers with BC springs... that does confirm my fear. Supertech's site advertises the beehives to 75lbs on the seat. If the BCs are busting rockers then it has to be way over 85lbs seat that they list right?

Im either going to use the supertech beehives or go back to OEM.

I have read some of your posts that say you feel oem springs are not enough with boost. I am also using ferrera comp plus valves and keeping the 9k redline, shouldn't that be sufficient? I had another member here who said he was using oem intake springs all around and had 9650 redline and never reported any problems.

This is good to hear. I had the supertech stuff installed in my car as preventive measure from a mechanical over-rev perspective. I know it's probably over kill since i'm still all stock everything - not even an intake or exhaust... Car used to see alot of track miles, and hopefully will against starting next year.

Has anyone ever measured pressure of AP 1 and AP2 valve springs? Seems to be missing data from the site

it's hard to say, all the ap2 springs I have tested were low mile springs.. I have tested low and high mile ap1 springs and found about a 15lb variance in them. I wouldnt imagine ap2 springs are much different

Even if it's overkill, it's worth it in my opinion. I'd rather know I'm safe on the track than risk any internal failures.

By saying "high" mile, what do you mean? I am preparing to replace the retainers and valve seals on my AP1, and trying to decide if i should also replace the valve springs with new oem. She has 70k miles. I got her 2 weeks back and i want her to run like new.
