I just used a K&N filter cleaning kit for my AFE and it's been fine.

The new filter design looks pretty cool. Let me know, if you feel any noticeable difference in sound/performance.
Ya, I just used the K&N cleaner kit and seems to me its the exact same as the AFE except the oil is red instead of blue.

What is the difference or benefit other then looks switching to this filter vs the stock foam filter? I think foam typically flows better then anything else does it not? maybe it flows too good and lets too much contaminants in?

Exactly, those foam filters are shit for filtration, youd be amazed how crappy and dirty your UOA is on it. The AFE filters are a tighter mesh and a cotton/gauze style filter with oil on it, so filtration is improved.

Yeah probably not good to run long term, Ive got my lid off and a custom snorkel too so I get all kinds of crap blowing in, I end up cleaning it every oil change. maybe I should get one of these filters too. The top filter design should help add better air flow.

Went to AFE websight. They want $65 plus 9 for shipping. Turning out to be a $75 filter! Sounds like Amazon is the cheapest option so far at $62 shipped.

Looks like I got the last one in stock from Amazon, there was two but half way through the order process someone must have got one

It was $62 with free shipping but then they added $6 for tax so it actually came out to $68. Better then $75 I guess but whats the deal with tax? Internet stores usually doesn't charge tax.
