AEM V2 EMS
Just bought an AEM EMS V2 and i have it at the tuners shop now. when i put the ignition in the run position the check engine light doesnt come on then turn off like its suppose to. it doesnt come on at all. we hooked up the lap top to the ems and it says its not making comms with the EMS. we checked to see if it had a good connection and it did. the lap top said good connection but its not communicating with the ECU.
what is going on and how can i fix it?

Check to make sure the com port you're using on the laptop is switched on to connect to the ems. I bet that's all it is.

unless they did something different with the v2, the cel is not supposed to come on like it does w/the stock ecu.
if your tuner cant get the laptop connected then i suggest finding a new tuner.

You use a usb port on the laptop for both the v1 and v2. But if you don't have the correct com port selected to the one you are connected to on the laptop, you can't log into the ems. Just make sure you have the correct com port selected.
The check engine light is normally used to come on with certain warning things set up with the ems. With the v1 its usually the over temp warning.

The V2 is a really nice unit. It fires up real nice and the idle control seems to be better as well. I was able to connect via usb but all of the sudden lost connection. I ended up just using the old serial port to finish the car off. Try using the the serial port and see if you can connect.

The V1 and V2 boxes start the same, there is honestly no difference. If the starting parameters are not adjusted properly you will have issues. I have tuned 4 s2000s with the V2 boxes so far and I have not noticed a single bit of difference. 2 of the cars converted from the V1 boxes as well.
If you are getting issues with the USB, make sure the drivers are staying installed.

I just tuned a 1052 box. I was amazed at how quickly it starts. It was literally as fast as stock or faster. I thought my personal 1012 was fast, but this one started in 1/2 to 1/3 of the time.
