Default AEM oil pressure sensor

Hey guys, just a quick question about the AEM oil pressure sensor I got when I bought my used ILP kit..the guy I bought the kit from was using this AEM oil sensor and AEM EMS series 2 without an oil pressure gauge.. (he just had a boost and an AEM UEGO gauge)

So basically I just wanted to know, do I need to use the AEM oil pressure sensor since I bought a Defi oil gauge? Does the AEM EMS need the AEM oil pressure sensor?

Thanks

If you want to view your pressure on your Defi gauge you need to install the Defi sensor.

But you may find the AEM EMS has failsafes set to react to certain oil pressure situations such as low pressure and you would lose this by removing the sensor.

Personally I would buy the AEM Serial gauge and monitor everything I had AEM compatible sensors for. In fact I do exactly that, but I don't have an AEM Oil Pressure Sensor, so if you do remove yours, drop me a PM.

oh okay..so are you saying that the AEM EMS does have failsafes for oil pressure? Or are you just assuming? That would make a lot of sense if it did..

I have an oil adapter block coming so I can easily install the Defi sensor..but I just wasn't sure if I need the AEM oil sensor too..

The AEM is programmable. It doesn't HAVE anything until you program it to.

I assume it probably has some sort of failsafe condition programmed because what other reason would the original owner have for installing an AEM oil pressure sensor.

Ah gotcha! And very good point
I have his number, but since it's 2am I guess I have to wait til tomorrow to ask him. I'm just impatient haha.

So I guess I can just run both the AEM oil sensor and Defi oil sensor since the adapter block has 4 ports..

So, sorry I may be keeping the sensor after all haha.

Ummm, no, you can only run one sensor at a time (because I really want the AEM ). LOL

Ignore that, you can run as many sensors as you can plumb in.
