AEM fuel/ignition controller
hi all, new to the forum but im interested in going turbo. now ive read up on a lot of setups and i know that the aem ems is recommended but im not so sure that this is the right ems for my build.
i plan on using:
pfab log manifold with a gt28rs on it set to 8psi
550cc inj
walbro
oil cooler
etc
im really not interested in numbers so much as retaining stock drivability. ive heard good and bad things about the greddy emanage but i came across the AEM fuel ignition controller. i understand that greddy doesnt control ignition? i was wondering if the AEM controller would be a smart choice for my setup. Im looking to make around 300 rwhp using this setup and wanted to know if anyone has used the AEM for this kind of build. Id like to keep obdII if possible so im straying away from the AEM EMS for right now..

You may have been misinformed. The Greddy E-manage line up does control timing and would probably be the best choice in piggy backs for what you want. Just find a tuner that knows it well and you will be fine. I felt that Since the AEM FIC was newer on the market and from a reputable company that hyped it up, that it would be a better choice, but it wasn't and I ended up fuel washing my motor becuase my AEM certified tuner could not get it to work right after hours spent on the phone with AEM to try and resolve all the closed loop hiccups and issues we were having. Allot of guys with ap1's have had issues with these if you do a search on this unit here. Some guys with ap2's have fared fine for what ever reason, it seems the old ap1 ecu's are just too sensitive in closed loop. E-manage, though a bit old in technology and convoluted to tune with, it is a proven unit that works good as long as your tuner is good, like with any unit they will work with. So either go this rout or better yet pick up an AEM EMS used for $800

sounds like a cool setup, i'd like to know how a gt28rs does on a s2k. use emanage if you don't/can't have ems and don't have kpro money. its way better than FIC just find a good tuner who knows greddy

I should say, that everything about the FIC should be a better unit then the E-manage, the way its processing works, simplicity to tune, its mapped out just like an EMS so its very familiar to use for most tuners. But it just doesn't seem to be compatible with S2000. Other cars it works great.

Man thats really disappointing to hear. When i saw wat the new 8 can do i was like holy rusted metal batman! But after reading this and seeing all the ones that were sold due to lack to tune-a-bility i think i may have to reconsider.
