Default Aem Ems-Umm?!? Dead Temp Gauge as usual

Anybody else seen or had this problem? I've had my Aem Ems 1052 installed for about 5 months now and have NEVER seen it go above 1 bar, which is the usual as you all know seeing how the ems can't read the temp correctly ( blah blah blah you know already )

...I started it up tonight with an outside temp of maybe 35 degrees. I moved it maybe 30 yards let it warm up and started to drive, then it went FULL BARS about 2 min later and the rest of the way home ( 20 miles )...I tried shutting the car off twice, but it would reset the gauge to 1 bar again and then a min later go back to FULL AGAIN. I have NEVER had this issue before...anyone have any thoughts on what could be causing this?!? I had my car out this summer in 100 degree weather and never had this issue.

UPDATE UPDATE...I just went out to the car after sat ALL night in 35* weather...I turned the key to acc and waited...sure enough 20 seconds later the temp gauge went FULL bars again...now thats with a ice cold motor! So wth is going on here! I even went as far as pull the negative terminal off the battery and let it sit for a couple minutes then repeated the wait and sure enough about 20 seconds later it went full bars again...I tried starting the car it started right up and 20 seconds later the same thing lol I'm stumped at this point!

Just so you know, the AEM EMS 1012 and 1052 don't drive the cluster temp gauge. They read the ECT sensor and can use it's value internally but don't display it.

So whatever you saw on your temp gauge was not temperature related.

If I remember right, if the coolant temp is above 230 degrees Fahrenheit, then all bars will light up... I would log your coolant temps and see whats up.

hmmm I'm imaging this to be the thermostat then not opening, must be bad...cause I know my rad fans are working I checked and they are even set to come on at a lower temp than the stock setting so again...this is odd to me esp with it being 35 degrees out and all

outside temp wont make a difference if the car is overheating or not. if its 35* or 100* and the thermostat is broken, the car will eventually over heat.
