AEM EMS

AEM EMS
I have a stock vortech setup right now and I want to move up to a larger pulley, injectors and ems in a year or so. I live in NY and we have emissions testing for inspections yearly. All they have to do is plug in the computer and make sure there are no codes and there is pretty much no way around this even if you got a good buddy at a shop that does inspections. My question is it possible to swap in the stock ecu, take off the supercharger belt, and swap in the stock injectors to drive to get an inspection done without throwing any codes then reverse everything and be boosted again. To me this is the most logical way to get around these damn NY inspections but still have some FI fun. Let me know if this is a viable option.

you dont need to change out the belt, just dont boost.
but yes, you'll have to swap out the injectors and ecu. No big deal. just make sure you dont take off any other sensors that will trip the CEL

yea but just normal driving it will boost a little bit even below 4k rpm. Probably would be safer just to loosen the belt adjuster and move the belt off the crank pulley and to the side and zip tie it then put it back on and tighten it after. Right?

Just out of curiosity. Is there anyway / proceedure to get a turbocharged car w/ an AEM EMS to pass emmsions? (i.e swapping the the ECU / other parts just for the emisson's test) Nevada's emission test is similar to NY (they just plug in to the car's computer and test for codes).

I am in the same boat living in NY with a vortech SC. I wonder if it would be worth the hastle to do the swap each year before the inspection.
You spend the extra 2 grand for AEM EMS, injectors, and tune to get another 50 to 75 RWHP over stock boost. I guess you would aim for 10psi (no HG needed).
Is it worth it I would have to drive a 10 psi S2k before I would take the PITA plunge to go through that each year. Maybe some of the high boost supercharged owners can chime in on if it is worth it or not.
You would not have to take off the blower because the carb stamp is on it to pass visual inspection, but just move the belt off the pulley. Not removing the blower would save three hours of labor and decrease the risk of breaking things like bolts each year.
I will stay stock boost for now and resist the idea for more power.

you may have to drive it a bit after switching it back to stock...From what I have read here the stock ecu shows a "cheater" code if you dont drive it around for a few days...
Ive done the emmisions switch thing its really not that big of a deal..possibly 2 hrs not even.

There is a way, but it's so illegal in federal ways.
All I could say is the only problem why you can't pass emissions inspection with AEM EMS, is that it doesn't have a OBDII Port.
I was a bit close to solving this problem when I had AEM EMS on my Evo... but it's a headache.
you could always pay $150 to some dude in emission place to pass you.
