I looked at all of your pics and checked your build thread - absolutely wild the amount of sediment in your injectors....holy shit. Scary stuff, even moreso because I have a setup very similar to yours. I'm running a surge tank under the car where the charcoal canister used to be, which is being fed by an AEM 340 in the tank....All I have for filtration is the sock filter on the lift pump and whatever element is built-in to the OEM carrier, which I'm assuming is how you had it, too? Be curious to know down to what micron value the OEM/aftermarket sock filters provide, as well as the media inside of the carrier - clearly, not enough...not even close.

I've run my car just like you for the past couple years. I'm moving up to ID 1700x from 1300s, so the injectors will be squeaky clean brand new.....I always felt kinda weird about not running an in-line filter, but I was having a hard time imagining a good spot to mount it that didn't involve drilling holes or ghetto-rigging. I've since found a nice spot, and will DEFINITELY be running one going forward once my car is back up and running....

What in-line filter did you go with? I bought the Radium 10 micron stainless one, and then someone told me the 10 still wasn't enough, and to get the 6 micron glass element one instead, so I have that now as well.

Thanks for sharing this though....That's some scary shit...

I ordered a filter yesterday and it was at my door this morning. I wasn't expecting it until next week. I accidentally got a larger size than I meant to. I had the smaller size on my STi and it worked well enough. I think I still have room to mount it under the car, so not a big deal. I went with the 6 micron, glass filter so it would be safe with a variety of fuels.

I'll get the car off the ground this weekend and figure out a place to mount. I am hoping I can mount it next to/off of the surge tank, which has the factory shield still protecting that area.

As for my problem, I'm starting to think I got something in the tank from a pump and it made it through the opening in the filter. There seems to be nothing else in the tank or in the lines. It started out as a slight wavering in cold idle, and then later turned into annoying misfires.

Okay, cool, good choice. I feel a little better about shelling out the $55 to get the 6 micron element for mine now.

As for the mounting location I’m going to use, it’ll be in the corner of the frame rail on the driver’s side coming off of the firewall next to the booster. There’s a threaded hole already there. Luckily due to the OD of the radium filter being the same OD as a Bosch 044, I’ll be repurposing this bracket I was using to mount my Rotrex filter to my crossbeam. The radium filter is also short enough that I can put it in that corner and get fittings onto it thankfully due to the Radium swivel banjo fittings.

That's not a bad spot. I have stock lines and like to keep them as they flow enough and you're less likely to have issues with OEM stuff. I have hoses connecting the surge tank, so I think that's going to be the easiest for me. Easy is always driving factor for me.

Got mine installed. Waiting on a tool to pull the injector screens. I tried without, no worky for me.
