Default Add me to the SC cracked bracket list...

Well, I noticed two hairline cracks today...so add me to the list.

Who's gone through the replacement process?

Damn Wes that sucks.

I hope you can get it taken care of quickly. Otherwise, no more excitement in the "Street Encounters" section....

Damn, was just about to get the Comptech SC too, maybe I better hold off.

Lots of stories popping up like this lately. Speedcraft is looking better everyday.

Hmm, I am really sorry to hear that.

I guess now it really feels like it is only matter of time before most of the supercharger owner start to see the crack on their bracket.
I hope Comptech will soon come out and actively replace the old bracket with newer reinforced ones.

I'm not really that familiar with what Comptech came out with for a fix, but I hope it is a true fix. I work with vibration and fatigue a lot in my job. Just reinforcing an object that has been cracking may not fix the problem, just change the consequences. The real issue is the natural frquency of the part is near the operational frequencies of the engine (or some other component that can excite the bracket). Adding stiffening ribs can change the natural frequency of the bracket, but it can push it closer to a harmonic. You really need to have a good understanding of what the natural frequency of the part is and what frequencies the part will be driven at during operation. Hopefully, Comptech has this all figured out in the revised bracket...

I'll post pictures tonight.

And, I emailed Comptech last night...waiting for response.

Stay tuned guys, there is something in the works that should eliminate this from happening...I know you have heard it before but recently Comptech was able to put accelerometers on their car and discovered at 6200 rpm our front plate flaps like a piece of paper in the wind. davepk and I will be testing a new front plate. FYI, my current setup has been trouble free for many thousands of miles and a few track days (i have a different VTEC bracket, thicker front plate and reinforcement arm from blower to ALT mount point).

Dave and I will be going up there either next week or the week after to put it through the tests...
