AC Fan Question

AC Fan Question
I'll be removing my AC shortly; I plan on removing the AC fan (drivers side fan). Under what circumstances does the AC fan turn on? (AC on? Above a certain water temp? Both?) TIA

For some reason, both my fans turn on when it reaches 180 degrees, however, I do use an AEM stand alone. I would personally keep the fan, if you know it's going to turn with the other fan, to keep your temps in check when at low speeds.

I'm also using AEM (albeit the older 1052). Not sure if it's worth the added weight/space disruption. Anyone without AC only using the rad fan (passenger side)? If so, any trouble keeping the car cool? Caveat: my car sees *very* little street time, so overheating is not particularly a concern, currently. I'm just curious if anyone has run this particular configuration. TIA

I'm on the 1052 unit as well, today my LS8 driver failed so I have to use the switch now to run the fans, this is fine I suppose in my case.
The fans only matter below 30mph and at those speeds you're under little load of course thus I doubt there'd be a problem with it even with one fan so long as ambient temps weren't insane. I recall a day on the way to vegas at 125 degrees that I was having serious heat-soak issues around town, that said I needed every bit of cooling I had. Other than this experience I haven't even been close to having a problem even on one fan.
I haven't run with one fan though so I can only speculate but I thought the info might be useful. If I was to pick a number that it would be safe to operate in I imagine the cutoff would be around 90-95 degrees or so that operating on one fan would have the ability bring the car back down to proper temps at a stand still. At speeds as I said earlier I'm very confident it'll never matter.

We could always do a little testing I suppose, just unplug a fan at the plug right by the radiator and see what occurs. Starting to get near hot enough here in cali to make a few conclusions.
