How "temporary" are we talking until the built block is done?

If its just a couple of months, could you get by with just running an OEM headgasket and detune it?

Yes only a couple of months at the most till I havethe other motor complete.

I'm just looking for the largest fun factor as my temporary fix. Lower HP just sux, it would be like regressing back to the Greddy kit.
Theres also the tuning issue..
The car is already tuned for the current 2MM I have in there so if I could get something close I wouldnt have to change much on the tune. Tuning isnt cheap; if I had to have it completely redone for a stock gasket I'd either have to fly Mase in or Pay Autowave to tune it till I get the other motor done and then again get the whole thing tuned again for 9:1 compression. The optimum would be to put in another 2mm like the cometic or even something like the Inline 3MM..
Decisions decisions...

S2k Billy or something like that in MD has been running the 2mm for a while, I think close to 2 years with no issues. It was put in at JE imports where I live. He does not post much.

So that's four confirmed 2mm gaskets that seem to be holding just fine.

Its only temporary...

I agree for long term durability you cant beat the OEM; that's the whole reason why I am set on building another block. This will just be in the short term, until I can get that block completed and in the car.

I just had a cometic 2mm blow on me the day after tuning and im in the middle of the same debate you're in. I have a log manifold and I think having the 2mm helped me get to 420hp safely. I dont know if I'd be able to hit that with the stock gasket.
