Default 60-1 Turbo...Thoughts?

So i have the turbonetics 50trim t3/t4 with an .63 hot side..

well.. its mated to the revhards cast mani and i been thinking about upgrading but still have it bolt on to the downpipe and IC pipe.. well..

revhard made a tubular mani and its still similar to the cast and i spoke with turbonetics and they have a 60-1 turbo...

i would like to upgrade to those *even though the mani might not net me that much more hp*

has anyone had experience on this turbo?

i think the dood recommended the 60-1 stage 5 with .82 hotside ball bearing option... the ball bearing option still uses oil and not water cooled... all of these would bolt right up and i'm good..

Thoughts on this turbo?

i have a 60-1 with a 60 trim cold side and .82 exhaust. I have over 50k miles on it and its been running strong. I maxed it out around 475whp on a FR tubular. On a log it was around 415whp at similar PSI.

Hey Jonathan!

What psi are we talking about?

I'm still on stock CR. I'm at 11psi right now at 330whp.

i was hoping at the same psi i would be closer to 400whp...

the log and the tubular do differ from looks.. but they almost look the same..

http://www.turbo-kits.com/images/rev_hard_s2000.jpg

thats the cast manifold

and this is the tubular... or ... so called tubular...

http://revhard.com/index.php?c=manifolds&s=2

so what is better? this 60-1 or a precision 59/65?

i'm only going with the 60-1 cuz it will bolt right up to the manifold and 5 bolt downpipe..

unless, is there another turbo that will do the same?

what's bigger? the 59/65 turbo from precision? or the 60-1? the 60-1 is cheaper from my search...

The speedcraft used a 60-1 with a on-center turbine housing and does not require notching the body.

i use it with the a/r 70 on the cold side , maybe with other housing it can fit without notching.

i didnt want to notch the frame so my mechanic built some kind of an adapter plate between the turbo and the mani so the turbo moves about an inch to the direction of the block and we didnt had to notch the frame but we had to trim the upper side of the engine mount and the oil filter sandwich adapter.

actually on the car u barely see it and i was really happy that i didnt had to notch the frame.

Good lord look at that damn thing lol...

well my frame is already notched. I did it before when i had a turbo that made it sit closer to the frame so i notched it cuz i couldnt get it on... turns out it wasnt the right one

BUT... its notched so i should be straight either way lol...

But is the 60-1 trim a nice turbo?? seems like a few people run them with great success...

i mean the ball bearing option also doesnt require it to be water cooled...so thats a plus for me. i know its not that much more to get it squared away to run with water...but, i would just like to have it oil cooled.
