Default 400whp s2k quarter mile compared to other cars!

Hey guys got a couple muscle car friends, im pretty much the only tuner in the group, but quick question, what is ruining our quarter mile times. 370whp camaro ss run from 12 flat to 11.8 quarter mile on a good launch. Those times will be hard to achieve in a 370whp s2k, but why, s2ks are lighter. is it cause we cant launch at full potential or what is it ? how about both cars with the same horespower at rolling races , what will be the outcome then. Local track is hosting their first roll racing night. what you guys think?

Roll racing you might beat him. The gearing and peak power advantage favors the s2000.

im guessing it should be a easy win considering the same horspower and im almost 900 pounds lighter. i dont see why not. even at a track from a dead stop it should be a win. im never gonna track my car like that, i know i dont have the right kit to perform its best at a track but nor do i want to harm my diff. but roll racing il do. just wondering outcomes

What year ss? F-body style?

Compare your 60' and 330' times, you'll find out why, on average, that they are quicker.

Also consider most s2000 has a peaky power curve. A mild ls1 motor will usually drop a bit of torque near 6000-6500. I would think their average hp (in their powerband) is higher than the average from a turbo s2000 motor.

Its not all about peak power, torque is involved too! and the main thing i believe is power delivery.
Its all well and good having your peak of power the same, but if they're in more power for longer ie, after a gear change you might only be around 200hp climbing your way back up to the peak power over a long rev range. Another car with similar peak power may only drop to 240hp

what are both your trap times? that will tell us alot, and a slip would tell us the real story.

Power can be easy with seat time good tires and a rest that will hold up

Most of these muscle cars are really not very fast. Lots of them run fast time but with a very low trap speed compared to import cars. Lots of times that run big slick drag tires are get a really good launch and maybe run a fast 11 second time with some pathetic trap speed below 115mph.
