Have you ever had a turbo Honda? You are very ill informed about the vehicle you own... The stock F20/22 uses FRM lined cylinder walls, which means you have got to use FRM compatible pistons, or the motor will trash itself within minutes. The amount of machine shops that can even properly bore/hone FRM sleeves are extremely limited as this is a very delicate procedure. The stock engine is absolutely fine for your power goals. Purchase a Good used block and slap it back in there... I have ran Jeremy Allen's (inlinepro) AllenBuilt signature shortblock, and let me tell you it is amazingly well prepared. I have used Laskey (Benson) and InlinePro engines and I will stand by Jeremy Allen alllll daaayyy long. His engine building abilities are unsurpassed, no one builds a better F series engine.....

Mobil 1 is also an issue, search about how many people have had issues with it... Use Brad Penn, Amsoil, or Valvoline VR-1

its not about need its about cost..... a stock block is way too much cash, I dont trust ANYONE to tell me that I am purchasing a "good" used block...... a built one is cheaper then a stock one .... forget about need.....

anyways I got my answer...... allen built it is .... I'm calling tomorrow.....

either that or selling all my fi stuff and slapping a v8 in there...... one or the other........

Lol it's your money to waste.

V8 swap will cost you close to 10k.

Mobil 1 is crap. Very good results with shell rotella t6 5w-40 full synthetic. Resists fuel sheer extremely well which is what I'm guessing happened to your oil and destroyed the rod bearings. It also would have probably happened to your engine even if it was NA.

But these threads crack me up, person asks for advice, gets advised by everyone to do the tried tested sensible route and then they go do the opposite of what's suggested totally ignoring given advise.

Anyways stock shortblock BNIB from majestic honda is 2882.26 + shipping.

Good luck!

guys. Really?

If its gonna cost him the same/similar to go with a built short block or a new OEM shortblock then its a no brainer to go with a built shortblock. SURE you dont NEED a built shortblock. BUT if your going to spend $3500 why not make it better than it was before? Its not a waste. and going with a used short block is a gamble.

More and more I look into the block situation Ive come to realise I dont trust anyone to build me a motor for this car the more and more I am thinking about selling all my FI stuff ..... and doing a v8 swap ....

say 4000 to finish my FI block and get it running .......

if I sell my stuff for 4000 and use the 4000 from the block thats 8000.....

Im in touch with importmuscle and I DEFINITELY CAN DO IT FOR LESS THEN 8000........

look for my for sale thread soon .......

V8 here I come .....
