100k miles boost
Right now im at 99,839 . I will be boosting within the next year. I was going to do a rebuild. But personally ive never boosted a motor over 40k. I was thinking just a general rebuild. Should i go ahead and get Rods and lower compression pistons. Would that mean I dont need to do a 3mm head gasket? Should i rebuild the head also. Should have have the block machined. Just a couple basic questions
Thanks in advance

If you are going to rebuild then just go with lower comp pistons and strong rods. Don't do the 3mm hg. In the long run, over 550whp, you will be better off.

no, then its not. If your pushing over 500 Id certainly build the bottom end. Otherwise skip it, more reliable in some ways with OEM.
Consider though, U already have the motor apart why not just do it right while you have it apart. Your already gonna pay for a head gasket for a few hundred bucks... doesn't it just make sense to buy the low comp pistons, skip the head gasket and throw some rods in for 600 bucks and have a motor that can safely handle a couple hundred more horsepower?

I;m not sure honestly he needs to rebuilt even at 100k of N/A miles.
I mean i'd do a leak down, go through the topend and make sure its legit...and run it for a while first, get his money outa the first setup.??????

yeah but 100k miles, and 17+lbs of boost just doesnt sound very safe. Would it just be safer to rebuild. My best friend works as a mechanic at a honda dealership and he said he would do it on a weekday for 300+ parts.
