Valve timing?

Valve timing?
My 2006 s2k is in need of a valve adjustment every 6 months, around 6 thousand miles of driving.
My question to anyone here is, could it be possible the previous owner of the car somehow tuned it to a certain spec using AEM, or Hondata? that causes the valve timing to be messed up every 10kish miles?
Can someone mess with the valve timing with the stock ecu?
Some of my friends think that it could be a bent valve, or something with one of the belts/chains.
Any kind of input or help will be greatly appreciated. Throw out some ideas maybe.
Thanks guys =]

The ecu has absolutely no control over valve timing on these engines.
If your having to adjust valves that often you definitely have some sort of mechanical issue.

Billman did a thread related specific to 06+ dbw valve adjustment recommendations. For what ever reason these car had a comon issue with over tight valves and needed to be checked much sooner then the previous Gen recommendation interval. I don't believe there was anything related to such the short readjust intervals you are experiencing though. But id do a search on the thread to find out for sure what was discussed. I don't have a dbw car so it meant little to me to dive in any further on the matter.
Good luck.
