Default Idle control valve issue

What frequency do people run the idle control valve at?

Car is turbo charged and the more I use the car the more I keep having to drop the amount the idle control valve is open to keep the idle. Just wondering if the idle control valve is going bad. Had one fail when I was on a aem series 2 which I believe was down to the base map I was given had the wrong frequency.

It's almost like the valve is turning on the shaft slowly! I will be changing over to dbw soon so I won't have anymore issues with idle control valves.

Any ideas are appreciated.

have a look at your PID control values. Sounds like you are getting integral creep which creates a slowly increasing offset. You then try to compensate by changing the initial value.

But the ecu wouldn't store this between engine being turned off. Since January I have gone from 40% normal position to 30% now. It seems to always change after I have given the car some spirited driving.

I have fast forwarded my dbw install so in a couple of weeks I won't need to worry about the idle control valve.

I usually adjust the frequency till it stops buzzing.

Take a look at the aem pro base map and see what that runs at. I never had an issue with mine. It should be the same as the K-series IAC if you have that info

Nice work. Did you find the wiring connector for the pedal? I'm in the process of doing the same in our race car and haven't been able to find the connectors

Yep I brought it from a vw dealer. I have the part number at work, will post it up tomorrow. Luckily I have a v6 4motion golf which is the same pedal so I gave them those details and I got the plug I needed.

Ah that's the reason why I went for vw parts as it's all made by Bosch and you are able to get hold of plugs easily, plus it's cheaper second hand. Pedal was £15 and the 74mm throttle body was £135. Second hand oem dbw s2000 throttle body over here is about £250 plus and that's only 65mm.

Nice. Vw parts here are usually on the expensive side. The j35 74mm dbw throttle body is less than $200. But for the race car well be using 2 2012 civic throttle bodies. 66mm for less than $100 each.
