Wiring harness question

Wiring harness question
I apologize in advance because this is definately a noob question, but a clear answer would be fantastic. I recently purchased a Pioneer DEH-P680MP HU. I picked-up a wiring harness from Metra, model number 80-1721. The question I have is concerning the wiring harness. The harness has two plugs, one large blue one and one smaller white one. I know that these two plugs connect to the factory harness. These two plugs are joined by wires, meaning that there is no bare wires to connect the Metra harness to the HU harness. So do I splice the wires from the HU into the Metra wiring harness? Am I on the right track here, or am I totally missing it? Thanks so much in advance for any responses.

that harness looks like it's designed to connect a specific headunit to
the factory harness - the generic metra harness that plugs into the
factory harness is the 70-1721.

Yeah its for stereos that come with a harness that plugs in from the factory.
Take your stereo out and see which one fits, then hack the other side off(leave as much wire as possible) then connect colors, I think all i had left was orange/white.

If you have the harness that is designed to install a OEM honda harness into another car (in other words, the metra harness you have can be plugged into the honda RADIO) then return it for the right one which will allow you to connect an aftermarket radio to the honda HARNESS.
Do NOT cut the factory harness. (you can, but it's a pain dealing with it)

Id like to show you what I did with your same situation, but I am not pulling my stereo out for that.
I did not touch the factory harness except to plug it in.
Find a picture of what you have and Ill show you what to cut
