wiring component speakers ?

wiring component speakers ?
So I have a kenwood head unit w/ only 1 rca pre out. I want to run 2 amps, one powers my sub and the other powers my 2 component speakers in the doors.
Question is can I bypass the speaker wiring from the head unit and simply connect the components to the 2 channel amp (via speaker wire)and let my sub be powered by my other mono amp? Both amps are connected via RCA cables. The 2 channel amp has an RCA output so I run that to the mono amp.
In other words I don't really need to run a speaker wire from the head unit to the components if I'm running them off an amplifier because the amp is going to catch the signal via the RCA's...correct? I simply connect the components via speaker wire to the 2 channel amp and the crossovers do the rest?
Kind of a noob at installing car stereos I really just have a basic knowledge of it all. Any help is appreciated....

invest in a new headunit, first off the 2v preout is horrible, get at least a 4v... also if you "Y" the amps you'll drop your voltage more right there

i just read about 2volt vs 4 volt pre outs. when i had just the sub and the amp there weren't any noise issues at all. now that i will be running the componenets off an amp i guess this introduces more noise? therefore a 4 volt pre out(s) would help to decrease the noise?

i realize the head unit isn't the greatest its about 2 yrs old actually but its pretty much what i have to work with right now..i may get a new head unit in a few months but not right now.

so is anyone familiar with the advantages of 2volt vs 4volt pre outs? based on what i've read, it seems most new decks come w/ 2 or even 3 pre outs.
if thats the case then i can simply connect my 2 amps to the pre outs on the deck and forget having to run rcas from amp to amp, correct?
i'm assuming that with a deck that has 2-4volt pre outs (do they make any?) that my system will sound better?
