get the modifry off the back, so you dont have splice ANY wires from your OEM harnness. (for adding a DCI)

looks like i cant just start with the modifry harness because it says
"you must buy the Alpine IR or Alpine Wired DCI for this harness to work"
that is for the plug n play harness.

you could get the non-plug&play harness from Modifry and splice it
to your Alpine, as you would with the Crutchfield harness. Then you'd
be ready to add the DCI without purchasing a new harness. The problem
with many generic adapter harnesses is that they lack the s2000-specific
dash switch and mute switch wires, though I don't know if this is a problem
with Crutchfield's.

It is, or at least it was. I threw the crutchfield one in the trash after depinning it and keeping the wires/pins for use in other projects.

You didn't state what the make of your head unit was. A couple of people assumed it was Alpine. Is that the case? If so you can certainly buy the PnP harness from Modifry.

If, however, your head unit is from another company then you need to get the non-PnP harness, of course.
