Will any MY radio work in a MY00?
I have a My00 and was contemplating upgrading the radio to a MY05 or 06. My question is this...
1) Will any MY radio fit in my 00?
2) The whole purpose of changing out the head unit is for the rear speakers I plan on installing. What MY head unit was able to use rear speakers stock?
Thanks guys.

your '00 radio already supports four speakers, the problem is your
wiring harness doesn't have wires for the rears, so swapping head
units won't make any difference (at least as far as adding speakers).
you need to do one of the following:
a) add four wires to the connector that plugs into the radio (has been
done, but not easy)
b) buy an adapter harness from somebody like Lucid
http://lucidauto.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv...tegory_Code=SIP
c) make a harness yourself, using a radio harness + a reverse harness -
be aware that if you do this, your mute button won't mute the rear speakers
unless you add a relay like Lucid did.

I'm not interested in doing any of the above. I was told that the My00 head unit sucked (which it does), and that the newer one has more power. True or false?
If I got a newer MY02-06 will it fit, hook up and work the same as the stock unit that I have? Plus not have to do any of the stuff posted above. I understand that the mute button will not work for the rear speakers.
I was planning on getting one of these rear speaker systems...http://lucidauto.com/Merchant2/merch...gory_Code=RSS1
If I got the newer head unit MY02-06 and the wiring harness (also from lucid), would everything just hook right up?

the newer one has slightly more power, but also sucks.
it should hook right up in place of your current one, and
just like your current one will only support rear speakers
with an adapter harness. In other words, new headunit or
old, you'll still need Lucid's adapter to access the rear
channels. To answer your final question, yes, if you buy
Lucid's rear speakers and OEM adapter harness, everything
will just hook up with either your old or new headunit.

I gave my 04' headunit to a member in my section who had a 00' and it works fine.make sure you get the 5 digit code for the headunit.
hope this helps.
btw: you should've posted this in the electronics section for better response.
