Would like to upgrade,OEM speakers,on MY-00,and install tweeters,while retaining OEM headunit.
What do you recommend?Brand names,size(tweeters)

I'd highly recommend Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.5" component speakers, if they'll fit.

They should fit,as 6.5"is the size of the OEM.

6.5" can be misleading. The stock ones are "european" 6.5" speakers, which means they are not quite 6.5" and are shallower. I think the Infinity Reference speakers are a direct drop in....99% sure on this.

Make sure that what ever speakers you get have a sensitivity raing of at least 90. 91-93 is better.

You will notice a difference in sound, but not much. The MY00 head unit only puts out like 7WRMS (or something insanely small like that). Most aftermarket HU's push beween 18-25WRMS.

If you are dead set on keeping the stock HU, make sure the speakers can run effectively off that low wattage (they usually give you a range within which to run for getting the most out of the speakers).

I dont believe that the 2000 model year had tweeters.... . If you still want components, you can mount them UNDER the base of the A-pillars. You just need to drill a speaker grill pattern in the trim piece. Not too hard. I think the stock tweets on the 02+ cars are 1/2" tweeters. I have installed 3/4" tweeters under the A-pillars, and they fit and sound great.

The reason why,I asking these questions,is because,I just bought some Mastergrade C.F,door panels,and they have the tweeters pods(holes),already in,and I want to fill these holes with tweeters.
And at the same time,while I have the door panels removed from the car,I may as well upgrade the stock speakers,at the same time.
Don't really want to swap H.U.,I'm not that big an audiophile,and top is down most of the time,so I dont really hear the music at speed.
So what size tweeters should I get to fill the holes?
And how do I wire them?

You should get 1/2" dome tweeters. I believe these will fill the holes. I think you can just mount them with 3M double sided tape (as I am assuming you don't have the stock brackets). As far as wiring goes....just extend the wires from the speakers out into the "secret compartment" behind the door panel (little black box on inside of door trim panel). Place the x-over in there, with the extended OEM wires running into the input part of the x-over. Then run wires for the tweeter and mid-bass driver out of the appropriate terminals to the appropriate speakers. Pretty straight forward. Check the FAQ section on this.....I am sure someone has done a DIY on this before.

After looking around and listening to several models, I went with the JL Audio VR525Csi, they are very clean and fit right in.

Those are 5.25",you sure they will fit?

after listening to them I'd say they are much better than kappas. and they are only .05 inches deeper.

Once again to the "European" drivers.....they are not true 6.5's. I will measure mine this afternoon and post some pics with a tape measure. This will give you a frame of reference. You need to look at the pics I am going to post, then look at individual speaker specs. Different speakers have different mounting specs. Also, check out the shot I will post with the basket.... Should be posted later this afternoon.
