USB OBD2 reader that doesn't draw power when IGN off?
looking for one of those DLC data loggers to send to my head unit that I can keep in 24/7
the DLC port is on constant power and there's basically no room to splice a cable from IGN on the '06
the bluetooth/wifi ones are always on and using power to search for a signal, which will drain the battery. Is there a preferred USB option that doesn't draw power when the ignition is off? I see some of them have lights on them that I imagine will stay on.

Hey that would work. This just came delievered today:
It has a status light but it doesn't turn on at all when the ignition is off. I'll get in there with a multimeter tomorrow but for now I measured the voltage reported by the ECU at 12.45v, I'll see if it changes at all by tomorrow afternoon.

Battery voltage is slightly low right now. Ideally and with no parasitic loads it should be 12.6vDC after sitting for 24 hours. The keyless locking system and radio memory suck power constantly. Not sure the OBD2 port adds a significant draw to that. A multimeter can read the amperage draw under both conditions with minimal effort. Probably need to reset the radio afterwards.

So I use one of the cheapo blue colored ELM Bluetooth adapters in the wife's car. Get one of these
bbfly-B6 OBD2 Splitter 16 Pin OBD II Splitter Extension 1x Male and 2X Female Extension Cable Adapter (1FT/30CM) (1Pack) https://a.co/d/7od6Mf9
Snip one of the power leads and tie it to the radio's switched power. You can then tuck that up out of the way. The other side will still be constant for your scan tools or whatnot.
