Tweeter Wiring on MY00
First off let me say sorry if this has been covered, I have searched and either my search skills suck or its not out there.
I have an 00 with an aftermarket head unit and my door panels were damaged so i found a local selling 00 door panels. Well it they had after market tweeters installed. so my questin is how do I wire in these tweeters ?
I am pretty good with wiring but I have no experience with any Audio equipment so I don't even know where to start.
Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

Do you have the OEM '00 speakers in your doors? If so, I'd replace them
with aftermarket component speakers because the '00 speakers are
terrible. I believe Polk and Infinity both make speakers that can be
installed with ease - choose ones with high sensitivity ratings so they
can be effectively powered by the headunit alone. Component speakers,
that is speakers with separate woofers and tweeters, will come with a
crossover, which is a box that distributes low frequencies to the woofers,
and high to the tweeters - one crossover per side, and most people install
them in the door itself for ease of wiring. Wiring goes like:
speaker wire into door, to crossover
wire from one set of terminals on crossover to woofer
wire from other set of terminals on crossover to tweeter

thank you OTH for your response
Yes I do have OEM speakers. I believe I understand now, curretly the car has OEM speakers OEM speakers handle all frequencies. But now that I have tweeters I must use component set of speakers. With a component speaker set up the wires that went to the OEM speakers now would go into a crossover and the crossover will seperates the hi and low frequences. Then on the crossover I would wire the tweeter and door speaker into that.
Another option would be to splice into the wires going to the door speakers and leave the OEM door speakers then attach a crossover to the wires that were spliced to filter out the low frequencies and wire the tweeters to that. but as you said the door speakers do suck an considering I have an 00 I believe those are all the speakers I have... am I correct ?
what would be considered high sensitivity rating ?
Is there a specific speaker you recommend ?
Thanks again for your help.

yes, you're correct in your understanding...
I'd stick with speakers with a sensitivity rating greater than 90dB if you
are not adding an external amp. Every 3dB increase in sensitivity is
the equivalent of doubling the power output of your stereo, so you can
see why it's useful to have efficient speakers.
Polk and Infinity are popular choices. Here are links to some current
models, though you may find other discontinued models at a greater
discount on eBay or elsewhere. There are many good brands, and each
one will sound a little different, so it's ideal if you have a chance to
listen to them to see which one sounds best to you.
