^ +1, thank you for this DIY!
I would've never figured it out otherwise, and probably would have had to pay some audio shop to install it and hack up my car in the process... with the guide it took me around 1 hour, and that was with no experience with this kind of stuff.

Took me about 30 minutes to do. Though I had to remove the PAC or something like that and rewire something together before the Modifry would work. Still unsure where to mount the ipod cable though.

I also used this thread for reference before installing my new HU over the weekend. Great stuff!
I installed a JVC KD-A805 along w/ a modifry adapter. I highly suggest this HU for anyone looking for dual USB ports (w/ built in ipod controls) and bluetooth also built in for an awesome price
Also wired in everything for an amp/sub in the trunk.

It's the Apline CDE-102.

Very entry level. I just needed something so I could hook up my iPod to an Aux input. Not had much luck using the Alpine's USB port to play MP3s. Most of my MP3 files show up as "Unsupported". But the Aux input works, and that's good enough for me.

I also found that during the install in my AP2 I did not need to completely remove the center console trim. It's enough to just remove the gear knob, unhook the center clips and then shift the trim back a couple of inches. There's enough clearance to remove the radio / vent trim. No need to disconnect the center control wires.
I can definitely recommend the JVC KDA805.
