When I did my HU install this pass weekend I never put that plug in for my alpine dva 9862 and my dash control doesnt work...so I figured it was because of the other plug I never put in...

How about the next step?
Where did you route your ipod cable up top? Did you remove the whole middle console?
Also, for the new HU, did you just swap the screw brackets in? Did you have to use the metal shell part?

Hey, this is a great resource! Is there a DIY anywhere that lays out the actual wiring portion of the install?
I've never self-installed a car stereo before, and my wife just gave me an Alpine 9857 and Modifry wired DCI w/harness. Modifry's instructions for the DCI portion seem straightforward enough, but don't address the head unit end of the wiring. Since the harness only has a plug on one end, I'm curious as to how the wiring is intended to match up at the other end (aside from the doubled wiring that plugs into the DCI module itself). I'm sure it will probably make sense once I've got the OEM head unit removed, but I wanted to get a good idea of the process before I start taking the center console apart so I can get the whole process accomplshed smoothly (especially if I've got soldering to do).
Edit: After looking back over the stereo install and DCI instructions, I think all I need is a wiring diagram for the adapter harness (since the DCI instructions only refer to four wires, and the 9857 manual has its wiring diagram) so I know which wires to connect to which portions of the Alpine harness. For example, one of the adapter wires is labelled "Dimmer", which connects to ... the "illumination" wire?

If you have the harness from gofast (with the extra dci wires) it should match color to color. Only wire not used is dimmer (orange/white) and remote (blue) if you dont have an amp to turn on.

As for the HU, yes I just swapped the OEM brackets to the new HU. You do not use the metal sleeve that comes with the new HU if that's what you mean by the metal shell.
