You need a harness to connect the head unit to the car's harness.

For the side controls you need a DCI (the FAQ has this info). Modify's DCI is always recommended.

I have been searching a lot of informations about the dash control features but I am very confused right now. I want to buy an Alpine CDE-103BT head unit. I went to modifry website to purchase one and there were so many products available. There are cords like $90, $28, $26, and I do not know what to buy. I just want to control the volume or maybe change the track on my dash controls, so which one should I buy? Also, is this modifry cord all I need to buy to install my head unit?

hook3549,

I too have an Alpine CDE-103BT and just ordered my modifry products today. According to modifry our model is IR compatible, but not wired. If you go to the "purchase" page for the DCI there will be 3 steps. Step 1, you will need the IR DCI for Alpine ($90). Skip step 2. Step 3, pick the IR DCI Plug-n-Play PnP harness w/o SCV ($25). You are now ready for checkout!

*You can elect to choose the PnP harness w/ SCV ($28) but sounds like you want the most basic setup. Anyone please chime in if I've missed or mistaken anything.

Hmm, so basically I have to spend $115 dollars if I want to use dash controllers..
It seems like a ton of money...

You can go with the cheaper PAC DCI but definitely read up on it and its drawbacks/issues. It's up to you what your priorities are. Worth is always subjective but the Modifry DCI is worth it IMO.

The DCI is not a cord. You need the DCI and a wiring harness to connect your head unit and DCI. Read the product descriptions, not the prices.
