lol @ As I Lay Dying being hard
I love the setup! August Burns Red is another really good Christian metalcore band if you are into that. But if you want double bass, I can give you some ideas

I was just about to do this exact install but with 2 component speakers and a smaller sub. Any tips you could give me to avoid problems? I don't know how well the shelf cutting will go, wish me luck!

Great work and very detailed write up! But to be honest with you man the rattling is a little much, any rattle at all and you can already write me of the list i cant stand it.
But i am interested in the setup maybe just with a smaller sub or less power. I see you have a hardtop...how was taking the soft top off to install this?

Thanks for all the compliments guys.
Just be very careful with your dimensions. I didn't take into account the proper thickness of the wood and thus it wouldn't fit, and I had to shave it down some. Not too big of a deal... just annoying.
Yes, the rattling would get quite annoying if I actually listened to music with that much bass, but I don't, so it doesn't ever bother me. Under normal conditions, listening to rock like I do everyday, it does not rattle one bit.
The soft top was taken out by the previous owner. I have no idea how difficult it was, as I took no part in it.
