Suggestions for Component Speakers?
Hey guys, I'm sorry if this topic is a bit redundant but I figured it'd be worthwhile making one since the market changes so much each year. I got a new Kenwood KDC-BT555U radio for my 01 S2000 and am looking to replace the stock component speakers. I want to get the best sound range and bass possible without having to get a subwoofer. I'd be fine with adding in one of those small "in dash" amplifiers that they make behind the radio unit, but I don't want an amp sitting underneath one of the seats or anything like that.
I don't really know that much about car audio, so if anyone has some suggestions for component speakers I'd appreciate it. Also, I know that the wiring has to be changed on the radio if you want to retain the on-dash radio controls. Does anyone have any specific suggestions for this or will any reputable car-audio installer be able to handle it properly?
Edit: Here's a link to the radio unit on Sonic Electronix - http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...DC-BT555U.html

Just to clarify - "component speakers" usually refers to speaker systems with separate woofers and
tweeters - in 2001 there was only a single full-range speaker in each door. If your car has separate
tweeters it was already modified by a previous owner. If not, are you looking to install speakers
with a separate tweeter, or are you looking to simply replace the existing door speakers?
As for retaining the dash controls - you need a dash control interface (DCI). The best is from
Modifry.com, though there are cheaper alternatives from PAC, Axxess, and no doubt others.

I just installed a pair of JL TR650 Csi because I got them at a good price. They sound good to me, but I don't have musical ears.
