Default Subwoofer mounting

Some quick questions.

I bought a custom made trunk-well subwoofer enclosure. This box will hold a 12". It has a 1 cuft of internal volume. The mounting depth is 7.7-7.8"

The sub I originally wanted was a JL 12W3V3 and has no clearance issue. But now, I want a Alpine TypeR, this sub has a mounting depth of 7.68"
The bottom of the sub will literally sit on the box.

Would there be any issue? Will it sound right? Will this damage the sub?

Thanks,
Vinney

you can buy/make a mdf spacer ring; 1/2" will do, and then you won't need to worry about this problem.

As long as the coil isn't vented through the back of the magnet, you should be fine if the subwoofer's magnet touches the bottom of the box. But, be safe: run a spacer of some sort.
