I've never liked any metal domed subwoofer. Every sub I've ever heard (in a common enclosed vehicle) has a metal resonance to the cone which is piss ass annoying. Not to mention, I'm just not a fan of the sound of the Ti. It definitely seems to be built more for output than SQ.

PJK3 - The IDMAX is available in Dual 2 ohm or Dual 4 ohm configuration.
The website states the powering handling as such:
"1000 Watts EIA, (1800 Watts Music Program)"
http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com/website/pr...ucts/IDMAX.html
I assume that should give me some more options? Is their an advantage of running Dual 2 ohm vs. Dual 4 ohm?
I appreciate you recommending less power and saving me money. Based on the information above, does that change any of your recommendations?
p.s. A local friend will beat the prices on Audison units from procarstereo.com and is an authorized dealer. I'm a happy camper today.
At those prices I might pull the trigger for the Audison LRx 1.400 (900x1 @ 1 ohm) or Srx2s 1 x 600 @ 4 ohm (not sure if the latter is underpowered or not).
However I still would appreciate lower cost suggestions (sorry for being indecisive about my price range) but hey, this post may prove useful to others too.
Thanks for your time.

1800 W music program is a peak number. generally, it's double the Wrms (or max average power) rating of the speaker. so, you'll want to focus on the 1000 W EIA and amps that rate around the same for max average continuous power or max Wrms.
the only value of running DVC 2 or 4 ohm subs is just for wiring options...
if you got the 4 ohm DVC and wired it parallel for 2 ohms - you could use the Tantrum 1200.1. you'd still be overpowering the sub, but only about 20%, which in my opinion, is probably w/in the sub's factor of safety. no guarantees that you won't have any problems though. btw, looks like the Tantrum is on backorder.
honestly -- it really doesn't change my recommendations much. about the only thing i'd do different is also look for an amp or two that made 1000 Wrms at 2 ohms vs 1 ohms. since that's now wiring possibility, you have more options...
i did find the Picasso Soundstream amp that might have potential, but i need to find more specs... virtually none are listed on the site:

good deal on the Audison stuff! you'd better post pics for me to drool over!
honestly -- i'd expect the LRx or VRx to be more underrated than the SRx series. generally, for most manufacturers the higher end gear is more underrated.
