subwoofer
Hi guys,
I want to add a subwoofer and rear speakers to my car but I have no clue about this thing at all and i mean NO CLUE. Please make your answer as simple as possible please. I have a head unit from panasonic 600DF and it does have the control for a sub. So my question is can I just by a sub and rear speakers and connect it to the head unit? or is there something else I need? I don't want an amp if I really have to. I talked to some guy at best buy and he says that since I have a sub control function and mo fet? (don't know what this is) I can get away with a cheaper 2 channel amp and make one of the channel on the amp the sub control and run the other speakers off of the deck? (how would I do this?). any wire or stuff I need?
Thanks in advance guys,

You can connect the rear speakers directly to the Head Unit (HU) without an amp.
You will need an amp for the sub. The sub & amp have to be matched so they can work with each other. You cannot just use any amp to power any sub. If a professional is helping you select then you don't have to worry about it.
Installing an amp is not so simple, you probably do not want to attempt it yourself.
There is a lot more info if you try the search.

You can add rears to your existing system without an amp. Most people go this way.
If you DO add a sub you pretty much want to amp everything to keep it all balanced and not overpowered with bass. Damping the vibrations is also a must!

Spend the money that you were going to invest in the rear speakers, and buy really good front speakers. I would recommend Dynaudio, Morel, Phoenix Gold, Planet Audio, Boston Z6, MB Quart Q, or anything else over $800. Try a set of any of these with good amp first. If they don't produce enough bass then get a sub. Rear speakers are PARASITIC. They pull your attention away from the front. Trust me, any set of these speaker will be loud as shit with a good amp. I would recommend JL Audio or Phoenix Gold for an amp.
