There is a rubber grommet just behind the battery. Some like to cross over on the driver's side, but I jsut ran the power down the passenger's side. Uses less wire and is a little less work, as there is more room to move around.

I've been installing my system this week. I did not like the idea of running the wire across the engine bay, across the firewall and then across the car to the passenger side.

I wanted to keep my run as short as possible to mitigate loss due to the length of the cable as well as weight. I'm using 2ga. primary wire and it's heavy.

It is quite easy to run your wire in a more direct route from the battery through a large grommet that is behind and below the battery on the firewall.

First, remove the battery from the car. You will need to carefully perforate the grommet next to where the wires come through. You can do this with some scissors. Nip at the grommet little by little so you will not cut anything other than the rubber in the grommet. When viewed from the engine bay, you will make your cut in the grommet to the right of where the wire loom comes through.

It helps if you have a lamp in the passenger foot well. This will allow you to see the light shine through on the engine bay side and will illuminate the wires so you can stay away from them.

Apply some grease to the jacket on the wire and then just push it through the hole in the grommet until it comes out the other side. This will keep you from dislocating the grommet as you push the wire through.

It's cake.

Why would you run it back across to the passenger side? Why not just run it down the drivers side of the car?

How did you wire your car then?

dunno...seems like excessive use of wire (sounds like football penalty )...just seen some links of people who have done it (run power wires down driver's side).

I ran mine across to the drivers side, and then down the drivers side to the left of the spare, so it only crosses once, and it would have to cross anyway. This way I keep my signal wires on the passenger side and the power on the drivers side until the last possible moment (at the amp).
