Spend my money please.
I have an Alpine IDAX-305 in my AP1, which i do NOT plan on getting rid of.
My budget is as followed:
ONLY speakers: $200
Speakers + AMP: $350
I've read the FAQS here and i'm just not getting the whole audio thing. So I'm coming to you guys to basically tell me what to do (in a nutshell).
All i want is to do is be able to hear my music loud and clear when the top is up and down. I don't want a subwoofer and didn't plan on getting rear speakers (as the FAQ states not too, MAYBE in the future if i find a need). I generally listen to rock music and some rap here and there, but i dont need it shaking my car.
If you guys feel I should get an amp to help my situation, then use the 2nd budget. If you feel its un-necessary, then use the 1st budget.
Thanks guys.

I have the amp you need, a brand new JBL that throws 70w x 2 channels. You could run it and a decent set of components (alpines, some other brands) and if you do the install yourself be out of the woods for UNDER $200. It's good you know what you want, clarity at a high volume just means a decent set of speakers and a little juice to them, which that Alpine is not going to do!
PM me for info on the amp. I can ship it out Tuesday.

Visit the ebay seller "harmanaudio" store (http://stores.ebay.com/Harman-Audio) which sells JBL, Infinity and Harmon Kardon. I picked up a sub. amp that normally retails for ~$300 for about $70 shipped. Direct from the factory, refurbished, with a 3 yr warranty from the factory itself. Should be able to save you a drastic amount and free up some of that budget.

You'll want to set aside $20-30 for a wiring install kit (you can probably piece on together for 1/2 that if you really shop around). Plenty of great NIB speaker and amps available (I've been getting my stuff together and have seen a ton of good deal).
Shouldn't be a big deal to get into your price target with some decent, mainstream branded products!
Maybe some Boston Acoustics, SX series? New for around $160. Plus the JBL above, the misc install goodies, you're about where you need to be.
